It all began with black olives.
There were certain things that we did not consider staples in our pantry, and black olives were one of those things. We never seemed to have them when we needed them. We were always running back to the grocery store for the black olives or some other item. My husband, Dave, would frequently say, "If we could manage our food inventory we could have what we need - just when we need it."
He was right, but we didn't have time to tackle that problem with four busy children to care for daily! However, when our youngest child was preparing to graduate from high school, I went back to school to pursue an accounting degree. As an accounting student at a local university, I entered a business idea competition with our meal planning idea and won! Then I took our idea on to a state competition and won again! So we were on our way to developing a product that would assist in meal planning and preparation and reduce those unnecessary trips back to the grocery.
Did I mention that I love to cook? Oh yea, I love to cook and while I am not trained, feeding my family of six was a training ground for meal planning and preparation. Dave and I have spent the last two and half years defining and refining our original concept. On October 22, 2009, we launched MealEssence.com.
MealEssence.com is an online resource for meal planning and preparation that generates shopping lists from recipes selections saving time and money at the grocery store. Read more....
