Last week I posted a blog about fresh produce and realized that while produce is very time sensitive many of the other food items we store are also. Many foods in your kitchen may be beyond their expiration date. Our pantries are full of grains, cereals, boxed mixes, that may be expired but because they don't have the appearance of "rotten" like produce items, we neglect to purge them from our food inventories.

I posted this last summer but I think it's a good reminder now that produce is plentiful. It's hard to properly store food without a reminder from time to time. The good news is that I haven't seen a rotten bag of green beans for a very long time...thanks to MealEssence.com!
