When was the last time you could pick up a pound of butter for $1.50.  What a great time to stock up on some staples.  I know that with Thanksgiving just a few days away your pantry and freezer space may be limited but remember that the sales don't end on Thanksgiving Day.  You can usually get the same great buys throughout the holiday weekend.  I read recently that the Sunday after Thanksgiving Day is one of the biggest grocery shopping days of the year.  I can see why...I bought a gallon of milk for $1.80.  I also read that this year groceries would be cheaper than they were last year.  They were correct!

So back to getting ready for the big day.  We need to put all the items into the calendar that we haven't already made and froze.  Be sure to take your time with the planning this week because you don't want to forget anything.  It would be horrible to have to run to the store the day before.  You can barely get to the mall these days because the traffic has already picked up with all those holiday shoppers.

Hopefully, turkey is at the top of your list.  I have two in my freezer!  So now it's time to think about thawing that big bird.  If you're anything like me, you bring it home and wonder, "should I keep it frozen or start thawing it?"  Well, I have good news!  The best way to thaw a turkey is in the refridgerator, slowly.  It takes about 5 days to completely thaw a turkey in the fridge depending on its size.  So if you purchase your turkey this weekend you could store it in the fridge and start the thawing process.
