Long ago Super Bowl Sunday meant watching the football championship game.  Today it means gathering friends and family and creating a winning menu!

I was at the grocery this morning and could not believe the buzz about food, Super Bowl foods.  The stores are packed with people and the offerings are everything from cupcakes decorated with your team logo to snack foods of every shape and kind.  The grocery stores are marketing Super Bowl eating; that was obvious.  I looked at some of the prices for those pre-made offerings and thought several times, I can make that for a lot less and it will taste a lot better.  MealEssence.com has over 100 appetizer recipes that very easy to make.

When our children were young they weren’t really into Super Bowl Sunday or the championship football game but they always enjoyed the "fun foods" they ate while we watched the game.  They liked food that you eat on toothpicks or bite size snacks that didn’t require silverware.  Also because they were not usually allowed to watch television during mealtimes, I think they enjoyed the “picnic”  in front of the TV.

Well, it’s not too late to plan some fun food for the game with your family.   Kids also enjoy making food for game day, so remember when planning and preparing Super Bowl menus to include them, this will add fun to the day.  I have listed some kid friendly ideas below.

BBQ Meatballs

Cowboy Caviar
Apple Dip with apple, strawberries, or just about any fresh fruit
Dill Dip with fresh vegetables
Hot Artichoke Dip

Cupcakes  and Cut Sugar Cookies are fun to decorate with team logos or names.

I hope your team wins!!!
