- 1 quart strawberries
- 2 cups baking mix
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons shortening or butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Combine strawberries and 2 T. of the sugar. Refrigerate.
- Combine baking mix, 2 T. sugar, shortening, and milk. Form into a ball and knead on a floured surface about 20 times. Roll dough out 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a floured cutter into 2 inch rounds. Place on a cookie sheet and bake in a 450 degree oven for about 10 minutes or until done. Do not over cook.
- Split shortcakes in half and top with strawberries and whipped cream.
