Saucy Stuffed Shells

  • 12 ounce ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 12 count macaroni shell jumbo
  • 1 count egg
  • 1/2 cup green pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 count pasta sauce jar


    1. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain; rinse with cold water. Drain again.
    2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet cook ground beef, onion, sweet pepper, and garlic until meat is brown. Drain.
    3. In a medium bowl combine beaten egg, bread crumbs, fennel seeds, salt and pepper.
    4. Add the meat mixture and 1/4 cup of the spaghetti sauce; mix well.
    5. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture into each macaroni shell. Arrange the filled shells in a 2-quart square baking dish.
    6. Pour remaining sauce over the filled shells. Cover dish with foil. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until heated through.
    7. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving.
