Barbecue Sirloin Tip

  • Prep Time: 120 minutes
  • Cook Time: 120 minutes
  • Servings: 4 servings

  • 1 count barbecue sauce 18 oz
  • 1 count garlic
  • 4 pound sirloin tip roast

    1. Rub meat with garlic, if desired; then discard garlic. Place roast in a plastic bag, and place bag in a deep bowl. Pour barbecue sauce over roast in bag. Seal bag and refrigerate for 2 to 24 hours, turning occasionally.
    2. Remove roast from bag; refrigerate barbecue sauce for later use. Place roast fat side up in a shallow pan. Insert a meat thermometer in center of roast until tip rests in the thickest part of the meat. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes per pound for medium-rare.
    3. After first 30 minutes of baking, remove pan from oven and add reserved barbecue sauce. Replace cover and return to oven.
    4. Remove roast from oven when thermometer registers 135 degrees. Cover roast with foil and let stand for 15 to 20 minutes before carving. The internal temperature of the meat will increase another 5 degrees during this time. Cut across the grain into thin slices. Serve with parsley potatoes, noodles or rice.
