Cauliflower Mac and Cheese

  • 1 medium cauliflower
  • 3/4 cup macaroni
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoon flour all purpose
  • 2 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs brown
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper


    1. Bring a large pan of water to boil, add pasta, and cook according to package instructions. Add the cauliflower florets for the last 8 minutes of the pastas cook time.
    2. Drain off all the water, transfer pasta and cauliflower to a buttered, heatproof baking dish.
    3. Meanwhile, make the sauce by melting butter in a deep saucepan with milk and flour, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
    4. Simmer for 3 minutes, then add mustard, salt, pepper, and half of the cheese.
    5. Heat the broiler. Pour the sauce over the pasta and cauliflower in the dish. Sprinkle remaining cheese and breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
    6. Place the dish under a broiler for 2-4 minutes, until the top is browned and bubbling. Carefully remove from the broiler with mitts and serve.
