Toffee Squares

  • 1 1/2 cup sugar powdered
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoon cocoa
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 pound margarine


    1. Melt margerine (do not substitute with butter...they wont turn out), mix with sugar. Add egg yolk and 1 tsp. vanilla, mixing well.
    2. Combine flour and soda and add to above mixture. Dough will be stiff.
    3. Line a cookie sheet with foil and press dough into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
    4. Make icing while bars are baking. Combine powdered sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, egg white, cocoa, and butter. Stir until smooth; ice bars immediately. Cool.
